A somewhat lighter wine, belonging to
"COLLINE NOVARESI DOC" and consisting of Croatina, Uvarara, Vespolina
and Nebbiolo grapes. It is a fresh-fruity wine with a characteristic
mineral-spicy taste.
The name comes from the traditional
Maggiorina system, where four vines evolve in the four cardinal points forming
a cup. The architect Antonelli, who also built the Mole Antonelliana in Turin,
originally developed this system. He was a native of the neighbouring commune
Maggiora, which belongs to the Boca wine region. Eventhough the system has
ceased to meet modern agricultural requirements, it is still often found in
vineyards.
The selection for Le Piane wine could be very well done and
it is very concentrated with hints of spices and cherries and berries. The
Maggiorina wine was produced in very little quantity and can be compared to the
2004 with his fresh fruit.
