Vacqueyras' "universal landlord" donated some vineyard property to Pierre Bovis in 1717. His descendants, the Arnoux family, now own over 40 hectares of vineyards. In 1936, they started to source grapes. They produce the Vieux Clocher line of wines. ""A blend of 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre, the 2004 Vacqueyras Cuvee Vieux Clocher spent six months in foudre. Sweet, expansive, and floral, with cassis and cherry notes, medium to full body, a beautiful texture, and a soft, heady finish, it should drink well for 2-3 years. "" Wine Advocate rated 89-91 |
