Cuvee Colbert is located in the Laguedoc region and its vineyards have a rich history. Over 2000 years ago, the Romans cultivated vines and olives where Flaugergues' vineyards are now located. The tradition was kept alive first by the Grand Mont monks, then by the current owner's ancestors starting in 1696. This exceptional terroir is made up of rounded pebbles called 'les Grés' (from deposits in the Rhone delta). The 75 acre vineyard is dominated by early-ripening grapes; it is the harmonious combination of different vines which allows for the creation of such a rich range of fine aromatic wines. The Cuvee Colbert is the top wine produced at Chateau Flaugergues. It is the only one they produce that carries the family name of the owners of the estate. It is a bold blend of Syrah (40%), Grenache (30%) and Mouvedre (30%).
