1992 Joseph Swan Russian River Valley Stellwagen Zinfandel

No WA rating. The 1992 Zinfandel Stellwagen displays a more evolved garnet color than the 1992 Zinfandel V.H.S.R. The bizarre bouquet of melted road tar, damp, leafy vegetation, smoked game, and wet dog fur goes beyond even my definition of kinky. The wine reveals fine ripeness, but the unusual aromas are followed by an equally eccentrically-flavored wine. Although soft and concentrated, it is extremely weird. Warning - the three 1992 Swan Zinfandel offerings are controversial wines that fall far outside the mainstream of Zinfandel winemaking! They are unusual Zinfandels of undeniable individuality and personality. RP
