RP95: The two single vineyard Syrahs are both 100% Syrah, and see slightly more new oak. The 2008 Syrah Pelkan Ranch (just under 200 cases produced) spent time in 50% new French cooperage, and, like its siblings, was bottled unfined and unfiltered. It possesses great intensity, a dense purple color, notes of camphor, blueberries, blackberries, spring flowers, and damp earth, purity, superb richness, and a long finish. Drink this authoritative Syrah over the next 7-10 years.
