WS98: Black in color, with amazing aromas of blackberry, aniseed, black pepper, and minerals. Full-bodied, with braised meat, superpolished tannins and an ultralong finish. This is the first release of a single-vineyard Syrah made by Piedmont's Luca Currado (Vietti) and Christine Vernay (Domaine Georges Vernay/Condrieu). Best after 2011. 500 cases made. -JS
